Teacher shares the most ‘unforgettable’ name parents have given a child in her class

Being entrusted to name another human is a huge responsibility, with research showing that Brits make assumptions on children based on their name alone.

Some parents stick with traditional names while others go with something a bit different to set their child apart, and a trend on TikTok is asking people to share the most ‘unfortunate’ monikers they’ve encountered.

But a teacher has left people stunned after revealing the names of three kids who have been in her class – and some people are having a hard time believing they are real.

User @Ttcskrb says: “So, I am a teacher and during my pre-service placements I’ve heard some pretty unique children’s names that they’ve had in class.

“These three that I’m about to say are the most unique and most unforgettable names, erm, ever.”

She claims that in one class there was a set of twins, both boys, whose names were Orangejello and Yellowjello, which were “pretty funny” – but it was the third that grabbed the attention as it took some people a while to work it out.

The teacher continued: “The next one was a little girl, her name was spelled out ‘H-i-j-k-m-n-o’ and her name… was Noelle.”

The clip has racked up more than 2.8 million views and 8,800 comments as one user explained for those who missed it: “I just got the Noelle name. It’s spelled Hijkmno but the letter L is missing. So it’s pronounced Noelle because there’s no L.”

Others said the name was “lowkey smart” and one commented: “I want to become a barista just so I can spell Noelle’s name ‘Hijkmno’ now.”

People added their own experiences, with one person replying: “I went to school with a Justin Case” and a second added they had known a “Paige Turner”.

A third said: “My husband knew people with the last name Leer. They named their daughter Crystal Shanda.”

And someone else added: “I wrote happy birthday on a cake for a girl named L-A and I asked how it was pronounced… Ladasha.”
